David, Michael, Jeff & Steve - A Southern African Adventure!
Back in November 2007, David had the perfect Christmas gift idea for Michael – a trip to Southern Africa! Michael was clearly thrilled with his gift and David and I started working on his itinerary early in January 2008. Their experience would include the Majestic Victoria Falls, outstanding safaris in the Timbavati, urban bliss in Cape Town and some down time in the Cape Winelands. Soon the trip for two turned into an adventure for four as their friends Jeff and Steve signed up for what turned out to be an experience of a lifetime!
Emails from Michael & Jeff upon their return:
Hello Michelle!
We've just returned from what has truly been the trip of a lifetime. Although we just heard from you vicariously through the boys at Taste, we wanted to write you while details from the adventure are fresher in our minds.
Logistically, all went flawlessly. All your planning, customization, and recommendations over the past months brought each of us experiences we will never forget – and with great ease, comfort and quality. That said, the most impressive element of the trip was the extent to which it also seemed completely personalized to exactly the type of experience each of us was looking for.
Among the particular points of the trip that were particularly memorable:
experiencing the multiple cultures by visiting multiple countries and geographic locations
consistent punctuality and quality of transfer transportation
Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe with over-the-top friendly and helpful staff (we stopped by Victoria Falls Hotel and even had dinner one night, which served to validate that Safari Lodge provided a much more local, friendly and warm ambience)
King ’s Camp – truly the best accommodations any of us have ever experienced with an incredibly accommodating staff and remarkable guide/tracker (we left feeling enlightened and treated like absolute royalty)
the Melville neighborhood in Johannesburg – great Palm-Springs like accommodations at Space Hotel (we did switch from Saffron Guest House since they were doing some work and had no bathroom doors, but the Space accommodations were even more fabulous and the owner's were wonderfully helpful, great dinner at Mezza Luna and superlative people-watching;
the Redcliffe in Cape Town at Cape Cadogan – a great way to spend 6 nights and the size of the place tempted us to throw a party, which we decided would be too much work to coordinate on a vacationdinner at Taste on a Monday night – being the only guests in the restaurant provided a great way to get acquainted with your friends while enjoying wonderful food and wine, to name a few.
We hope you find this information helpful; it’s the least we could do after all your help and the quality of the service you already provide. We had the BEST trip we have ever taken. THANK YOU!
Michelle - you rock!
David
Hi Michelle.
We also had an amazing experience in Africa…truly an experience of a lifetime! Thank you so much for everything you did to make this possible.
My partner and I are headed to Thailand in January and we may tap into your services for that trip as well.
Best,
Steve
