Gerry & Joan had read and heard so much about South Africa that they really wanted to have an indepth experience focusing just on South Africa. We designed an itinerary to highlight the diversity of this incredible country.
Their Itinerary - - September/October
Starting in Johannesburg and staying at the luxurious Michelangelo Hotel, they had a private guided tour of this area which covered Johannesburg and Pretoria highlights - Museum of Africa, Nelson Mandela Bridge, Apartheid Museum, Soweto, Voortrekker Monument, Houses of State, Transvaal museum... Next out to Kruger National Park for their game viewing experience and 3 nights at Lion Sands River Lodge. The Lodge is built on the banks of the Sabie river, facing due East and catching the sun as it rises over the Kruger National Park. Just 18 luxurious thatched roof bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, indoor/outdoor showers & viewing decks, a perfect spot for their safari experience. Mpumalanga provence next and Irene Country Lodge nestled in the historic village of Irene between Johannesburg and Pretoria. Rovos Rail down to Cape Town. A magical train journey abord the wood paneled choaches of this classic remodeled steam train recapturing the romance and atmosphere of a by-gone era. Arrival in Cape Town - the Mother City. Possibly one of tte most beautiful cities in the world. Here we chose the gorgeous Victorian Boutique Cape Cadogan. They explored just a few of what Cape Town has to offer as you could stay in this City a month and not see it all. Table Mountain, Cape Point, a traditional Tea at the Mount Nelson Hotel, Victoria & Alfred waterfront, Robben Island, numerous shops and restaurants (we provide a suggested list)... A day our to the Whaling town of Hermans to spot the magnificent Southern Right Whale who's breeding season is July - Nov in this area. They explored the winelands for two days from the Spier Estate where they also were able to interactt with Eagles and Cheetahs at their rescue and conservation study program on site. They ended their in depth South Africa adventure with a tour along the gorgeous garden route visiting Oudtshoorn and it's Ostrich Farms, the Cango Caves, Plettenberg Bay and Knysna.
