Phyllis & Donald's Second Honeymoon in Tanzania
Phyllis & Donald had a vision of the honeymoon they always wanted and now that they could afford it they chose Tanzania and wanted comfort and luxury for their Tanzanian Safari experience. We created the following itinerary which met all their expectations and more.
Their Itinerary - - September
Donald & Phyllis traversed Tanzania in a leisurely fashion and experience Tanzania at it's best from various Wildlife Parks in the country. We started them off at the Arusha Coffee Lodge which is small luxury hotel built on a working coffee plantation. It is conveniently situated near the Arusha airstrip and not far from Kilimanjaro Airport, making it very popular for relaxing pre or post safari. A day to compress after the long flight and then the short flight out the next morning to the Northern Serengeti to witness the exciting spectacle of the world's largest animal migration as 2 million wildebees, zebra & gazelle make their way through their annual grazing path across the great plain. The couple spent three nights here in the luxurious permanent tents of Migration Camp. Far from camping, these luxurious tents have all the comforts of a luxury hotel but are set right in the middle of the action. Next they we sent them to the southern Serengeti to explore a different area of the Park and Ndutu Safari Lodge which is situated in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This area is a favorite with professional wildlife photographers and film-makers for the past four decades because it's simply one of the best places to watch wildlife. Ngorongoro Crater rim next and the Serena Ngorongoro Lodge for a few nights. This lodge is a triumph of ecological and architectural fusion. Sensitively constructed so as to take nothing from it's environment whilst affording endless vistas over the crater below. A few days here then ending in the Selous Game Reserve. Embracing 54,000 square kilometers of south-western Tanzania, it is the largest protected wilderness reserve on the continent, three times larger than the Serengeti and twice the size of Belgium. Here they stayed at the luxurious Selous Safari Camp on the banks of Lake Nzerakera. This camp is designed to blend in with the spectacular natural scenery of the Selous Game Reserve. With just 9 safari tents, each sitting atop it's own raised itmber platform, this is another permanent tented luxury experience. The camp has the prime position at the centre of the unique riverine and lake complex, with the highest concentration of African wildlife and myriad bird-life. There are no fences and no artificial modifications to the natural fauna and so animals wander freely through the camp. The sheer diversity of the landscape made the Selous a perfect spot to end their adventure - from hot volcanic springs, placid lagoons and the many channels from the Great Ruaha and Rufiji Rivers which bisect the reserve - makes the Selous a unique area in which to observe the full panoply of African wildlife. Most of Africa’s mammal species, from the largest to the smallest to the rarest, thrive here. In addition there are some 440 species of birds and more than 2,000 recorded varieties of plants (with many more still to be discovered.)
