Luxury Safaris

Ultimate luxury! Superior class accommodation, outstanding cuisine, exciting safaris and intimate hospitality are what await guests who choose the luxury safari option. These exclusive experiences cater to the guests every need.

There are many Reserves and Lodges to choose from, each with their own unique blend of African décor and their own story to tell.  From the best game viewing in Africa to idyllic island getaways, African river experiences and even walking with lions and elephants, each small, privately owned lodge also offers a service to its local community and is constantly aiming to sustain and preserve the fragile eco-system.

Usually set out along a wooden or stone walkway, your private suite welcomes you to your own piece of paradise in the Bush.  Rich, African textures, wooden doors and stone walls or top-quality canvas structures, private decks and unending views make up your suite.  Many of the Lodges offer a private plunge pool and an outdoor shower.  Some have fans or air conditioning, a sitting area and a fireplace. All suites are equipped with amenities (insect repellent, shampoos etc) and offer a tea/coffee station.

A typical day on a Luxury Safari would start with an early morning wake up call. You will be given a specific time to meet in the main lodge, where you can help yourself to tea and coffee before you head out on your game drive. If the Lodge is unfenced on the Reserve, your ranger will come and fetch you from your room and take you to the main Lodge.

Jackets zipped up and you’re off on your first adventure of the day. A stop is usually made for tea/coffee during your drive, so you can enjoy an African sunrise.  A sumptuous breakfast will be waiting for you upon your return and the rest of the day is yours at leisure.  Some Lodges offer walking safaris during this time or other activities in the nearby area (such as a beach walk if staying at one of the Lodges on the KwaZulu North Coast for example).

This afternoon, join the rest of your travelers for afternoon tea/coffee before embarking on the second safari experience of the day. Watching the sun go down whilst sipping on a Gin and Tonic is the perfect way to end the day.  If your Lodge is situated on a River, your afternoon safari can often be done by boat, giving you the opportunity to view many more animals such as hippos, crocodiles and more birds.

There is enough time to freshen up and then it’s time for dinner. Dinner is usually served in the Lodges magnificent dining area or out in the Boma – an enclosed area where tables and chairs are set out around a central fire and food (usually meats and salads) is served buffet-style, under the stars.

The combination of absolute luxury and expert service both in the Lodge and out in the Bush makes a luxury safari the ultimate way in which to experience the African bush!
